  Where do I go to borrow a laptop?
  The laptop loaning kiosk is located in City Centre branch near the Help Desk.
  
  Can I place a hold ahead of time?
  No, lendable laptops are currently not holdable, but available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  
  How long can I borrow the laptop for?
  2 hours of complimentary use. Rental fee applies after 2 hours.
  
  How many laptops can I borrow at one time?
  1 per library card.
  
  Can I take the laptop out of the Library?
  Yes, lendable laptops may be used inside or taken outside of the Library.
  
  How much is the rental fee?
  After the free 2 hours, a rental fee of $2.00 per hour applies, to a maximum of $336.00 (equivalent to 7 days). If laptop has not been returned after 7 days, it is considered lost and will incur a charge of $944.00. Fees may be charged for any damages to the laptop.
  
  Will I be notified when the rental fee begins to accrue?
  No, you will not be notified once your free 2 hours have elapsed and the rental fee begins to accrue. Please be mindful of how long you have the laptop for.
  
  What kind of laptop is it?
  Lenovo Thinkpad, model E485.
  
  What kind of software is pre-loaded?
  Acrobat Reader, Gimp, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Office 2019 Standard.
  
  Does it have a webcam?
  Yes, the laptops come with built-in webcams.
  
  Does it have an HDMI port?
  While there is no accessible HDMI port, HDMI adapters are available at the Help Desk at the time of borrowing. You can connect an HDMI display using the adapter.
  
  Can I download additional software to the laptop?
  Yes, but upon return, all changes made to the laptop including downloads, any software you install and browsing history will be erased.
  
  How do I login to the laptop?
  No login is required. Just turn on the laptop to begin use.
  
  How can I print from the laptop?
  To print to a library printer, use one of the remote printing options.
  To use a printer in your home, use the Add a printer or scanner setting.
  
  Are laptops already charged?
  Yes, the laptop will be fully charged when you borrow it.
  
  Can I borrow a computer bag and charging cable?
  Yes, these items are available for borrowing from the library help desk for a maximum of 7 days.
   
  How do I return the laptop?
  

  Laptop must be returned to the laptop loaning kiosk.  

  Is my browsing history cleared when I return the laptop?
  Yes, laptops are re-imaged (wiped) and recharged when returned.
  
  

Internet, Computer Stations and more

• Using a Computer

  • Log on with your library card and PIN (usually the last 4 digits of your phone number).
  • If you don't have a library card, ask for a guest pass at the Help Desk. Guest passes allow up to 2 hour max. of computer time per day.
  • Use any available computer. If all computers are in use, reserve one using the in-branch booking station.
  • Computers can be used in 1 hour blocks and are limited to 2 hours total. Extensions may be available.

• Booking a Computer

  We offer 1 hour of computer use per person per day, with option to extend for 1 additional hour. Use an available computer or make a reservation ahead of time.

• Printing

  Print in black and white or colour. See Printing, Photocopying, Scanning and Faxing Services.

• WiFi

  Complementary wireless Internet access is available in both branches and at the Library Link.

  • No password required; review and accept terms and conditions to gain access.

• Children's iPads

  Children’s iPads, pre-loaded with educational games and eBooks, are available for use in the children’s areas.
