Get a Library Card

• In-Person Application

  Visit the City Centre or Poirier branch, or the Library Link community outreach vehicle. Provide picture and address ID.

• Online Application

  Apply online and immediately receive a digital library card with limited access. With a limited access digital card, you can:

  • Login to the CoqLibrary app with your library card number and PIN.
  • Borrow up to two physical items at one time, with the exception of lendable technology and lendable laptops (restricted to full access cards).
  • Book library meeting rooms and group study rooms.

  To upgrade to a full access library card, visit any library branch with picture and address ID. If you're unable to visit a branch to upgrade to a full access card, you can request an accommodation by contacting us.

  Anyone under 14 years old must have a parent or legal guardian with them when they register for a library card or upgrade to a full access library card. The parent/guardian must bring picture and address ID. A legal guardian must also have proof of legal guardianship.

• Do I need a regular library card or a BC OneCard?

  Register for a regular Coquitlam Public Library card if:

  • you live in an area served by InterLink and 
  • plan to visit a library served by InterLink

  Register for a BC One Card if:

  • you live outside an InterLink service area and want to access services at Coquitlam Public Library or 
  • you live in Coquitlam and want to access services outside an InterLink service area

• Who can get a BC OneCard?

  Any BC resident who can show their valid public library card.

• How do I get a BC OneCard at Coquitlam Public Library?

  Show us your public library card and current identification.

• What if I don't have my library card with me?

  You need it to sign up for a BC OneCard, so don’t leave home without it.

• Where can I use my BC OneCard?

  You can register to use it at any public library in the province. At each library, as part of the registration process, you'll need to show current ID.

• What can I use my BC OneCard for at Coquitlam Public Library?

  You can:
  

  • Borrow library material
  • Use the Internet
  • Use select eResources
  • Place holds
  • Borrow Talking Books (if you are a registered print disabled customer)

  You cannot place Interlibrary Loan requests.

• Expiry Date

  BC One Cards expire 1 year from the date of issue.

• Returning Materials

  Return materials to any public library in BC.

• Late return charges, loss or damage and other fees

  BC OneCard users are responsible for any late return charges, lost or damaged items or other fees.

• Where do I pay late return charges or other fees on books I borrow from Coquitlam Public Library?

  • You can pay fees in-person at the City Centre or Poirier Help Desk, or by phone at 604-554-7323.
  • You cannot pay for charges on Coquitlam Public Library items at other libraries.
