Looking for a way to make learning fun and engaging for your kids? Thanks to a new offering from Coquitlam Public Library, you won’t need to look far! 30 new bilingual VOX Books (including titles in Korean, Spanish, French, and Chinese) have been added to the Library's collection, combining print and audio in a unique way that makes reading fun.
The permanently attached VOX Reader transforms an ordinary print book into an all-in-one read-along. No CD, tape, battery, device, or internet access is required; children just press a button to start listening and reading along. VOX Books can also be used with or without headphones, making them perfect for both solo and group enjoyment.
VOX Books have won awards from parents’ groups, including the 2021 National Parenting Product Award in their Best Books for Kids and Families category, and a 2021 Mom’s Choice Award. A recent review in School Library Journal noted that “Narrators are lively and will keep readers engaged. Educators can use VOX Books to help early or struggling readers learn to pronounce words, hold a book, and turn pages, and practice tracking text from left to right. This is a valuable tool not only for libraries but also for teachers to use in the classroom and for parents to use at home.”
You can borrow two VOX Books at a time for 21 days and renew them twice, if no one is on the waiting list. To see what titles are available, search for "VOX Reader" in the Library’s online catalogue or view our book list. Titles can be placed on hold, or browsed and borrowed directly from the City Centre and Poirier branches. Find them in the World Languages section.
