Don’t stress about overdue library books because Coquitlam Public Library is extending its fines-free policy for the rest of 2021.
The Library first suspended overdue fines a year ago, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. At their most recent meeting, the Library Board decided to continue waiving fines to eliminate barriers that could discourage customers from using the Library.
Once an overdue item is returned and checked in, staff will waive any associated late fees. The policy doesn’t apply to lost or damaged items, or to fines that accumulated before March 16, 2020.
The fines-free policy will be in place until December 31, 2021.
