Children’s books that read out loud

Wonderbooks_child

Discover a wonderful new way to keep young children entertained and away from the computer or television. Coquitlam Public Library has added 60 different Wonderbooks to its collections. Each Wonderbook has a ready-to-play audiobook inside the front cover, combining print and audio in a unique way that makes reading fun.

Children can press the easy-to-use control buttons and listen to the story as they turn the pages. No CD player or extra equipment is required. Use Read-Along mode to listen to the story, and switch to Learning Mode afterwards for more literacy opportunities. In Learning Mode, the book’s narrator leads question and answer sessions to encourage deeper engagement with every book.

Customers can borrow two Wonderbooks at a time for 21 days and renew them twice, if no one is on the waiting list. To see the titles available in the Library’s collection, search for ‘Wonderbook’ in the Library’s online catalogue or view our book list. Items can be reserved online and picked up from the Library when they are ready. Wonderbooks can also be browsed and borrowed directly from the City Centre and Poirier branches.

To learn more, visit coqlibrary.ca or phone the Library’s Help Desk at 604-554-7323. Sign up for a free library card online.
