Coquitlam Public Library is part of a long tradition of libraries ensuring their communities have access to the information, resources, and services they need. We have started down the path of total community inclusivity by making our branches accessible and welcoming, and we recognize that more can always be done. Some of our current collections include:
- Audiobook collection
- Large print collection
- Lendable DAISY players
- Home delivery service
- CELA accessible library services
- Interlink accessible collections
- Braille books for children
Our current branch accessibility features include:
- Low service counter at Help Desk
- Wheelchair accessible washrooms with barrier free entry
- Designated handicapped parking stalls
- Automatic entrance doors at Poirier branch to allow larger mobility aids easier access
Our Accessibility Committee will help identify additional barriers and challenges for our 3-year plan. The committee will approach the Library and its services with an eye on:
- Inclusion
- Adaptability
- Diversity
- Collaboration
- Self-determination
- Universal design
