Every year, we hold a scary story contest aimed at tweens and teens from ages 11–18 (broken up into two age brackets: 11–14 and 15–18). The writers are limited by word count, and must include the year's key words inside the story. This challenges the writers to convey mood and atmosphere—key aspects of horror—within the tight constraints of what is effectively a single-spaced page. The results always speak for themselves; this year being no exception.
