Most materials are available late-fee free to Library customers for a 21 day loan period, with up to 2 renewals. Exceptions are: 

The Library does not charge late fees on most items, with the exception of express books, express movies, lendable laptops, and interlibrary loans. 

Items not returned 21 days after the due date will be charged a replacement and processing fee. This charge will remain on the account until the item is returned or the charge is paid.

Customers can borrow up to 100 items on a card. There are some limits based on material type or card type.

You may return items to any of our branches or to any public library in the Lower Mainland that is a member of InterLink, opens a new window.

Exceptions:

• All lendable technology items must be returned to the Help Desk at the City Centre or Poirier branches, or to the Library Link. This includes binocular kits, telescope kits, Blu-ray players, robots & coding toys (Makey Makey, Ozobot, Sphero), Happy Light Lamps, ZTE Smart Hubs, radon detectors, vehicle diagnostic scanners, GoPro's, and Playaway Launchpads.
• Lendable laptops must be returned to laptop kiosk.
• Interlibrary loans must be returned to City Centre or Poirier branches.
• Items borrowed with a BC OneCard can be returned to any participating BC OneCard library, opens a new window in the province.

If you return materials to another library system, your account may temporarily show that items are overdue, but we will adjust late fees as a result of transit.

You will only be charged for damage if the item needs to be replaced. If a piece from a kit or set is missing or damaged, the Library will charge you for that individual item, provided it is available for separate purchase. If the item is not sold individually, the Library will charge the full cost of the entire set. Accounts may be charged a replacement fee per item in addition to the processing fee if the item is lost or damaged beyond repair.

You are responsible for all the materials borrowed on your card and for any charges on items that are lost or damaged. You will lose your borrowing privileges if you owe $25 on your Library account. 

Loan periods may be extended if eligible as a renewal. Eligible items are auto-renewed 3 days before they are overdue. Renewals are not permitted for Express Loan items, or items reserved by other customers. Other exceptions may apply.
