In 2024, we partnered with Redstamp, opens a new window, a local creative agency, to refresh our brand and reconnect with the heart of our community. The name “Coquitlam” comes from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (Hunquminum) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm—“Red Fish Up the River.” That image of salmon making their way upstream inspired our new visual identity.
At the top right of our symbol, a spawning salmon represents our community—strong, resilient, and moving forward together. Next to it, a wifi signal reflects our role in connecting people to each other and to knowledge. The tail of the fish forms the shape of a book—our most recognizable symbol—standing for the skills, stories, and self-reflection that grow through learning.
In Coquitlam, salmon return each year on a journey that sustains life and renews the ecosystem. Our library stands in that same spirit—rooted in place, open to all, and here to support discovery, growth, and belonging.
We are more than books. We are a gathering place for minds and voices. A space for connection, learning, and transformation.
