Coquitlam Public Library is excited to announce our new core Indigenous Collection section at the City Centre branch. Situated just inside the Library next to the Pinetree Way entrance, this new area within the Library debuts today with curated children’s materials, and will grow to include teen and adult titles in the future.
The titles in our new core Indigenous Collection section can also be found throughout all of our branches, including our physical locations and the Library Link. These titles will still be available in their usual collections. This ensures broad access to all titles, while the new Indigenous Collection highlights the books and makes them more easily accessible for people looking to engage with Indigenous voices and perspectives.
Additionally, this section and the wider Indigenous Collection will be a dynamic one—regularly evaluated to ensure authenticity, diversity, and quality.
We recognize the vital role that public libraries play in advancing truth, reconciliation, and decolonization. Coquitlam Public Library is committed to establishing and maintaining a core Indigenous collection that reflects the histories, voices, and perspectives of Indigenous, Inuit, and Métis communities.
