An Evening with Tima Kurdi

Local author Tima Kurdi talks about her book, The Boy on the Beach: My Family’s Escape from Syria and Our Hope for a New Home. Tima is the aunt of Alan Kurdi, whose body washed up on a Turkish beach in September 2015.

The heartwrenching photo of her drowned nephew drew the world’s attention to the horrors of the Syrian refugee crisis. Come and hear her powerful story. Tima will sign copies of her book following the talk. This is a free program, please register online.

Western Sky Books will be selling copies of the book at 6:30 pm and also during the book-signing towards the end of our program.

Join astronomer Bill Burnyeat for a chance to view the heavens through a telescope, and learn about the night sky. For children, teens and adults. Families welcome. If the weather doesn't cooperate, we will move indoors to the Nancy Bennett Room, where Bill will provide a talk and slide-show.

Tech Training: Introduction to Email

Are you new to computers, or looking to build on essential skills? Each Tech Training class will focus on a specific topic and cover some of your most-asked questions. Basic keyboarding and mouse skills are required.

Feel the Beat: BC Culture Days
