Accessibility and Homebound Services

The Library offers collections and services to serve customers with mobility challenges and/or print disabilities.

Homebound Delivery Service

The Library provides free delivery and pick up of library materials to Coquitlam residents who are temporarily or permanently homebound in private homes, residences and care centres. Librarians select materials for patrons according to their preferences and needs.

Audiobook Collection for the Visually Impaired

Poirier Branch has a collection of audiobooks in CD and CD-MP3 formats exclusively for visually impaired customers. Please note that audiobooks may require a Daisy Player, Plextalk Player, personal computer or DVD player.

Materials and Formats Available

In addition to materials available to all Library members including large print books, CD books, eBooks and eAudiobooks, Accessibility Services members may also access formats such as physical audiobooks in CD, MP3 and DAISY formats, downloadable books and more.

Registration

To register for Homebound Delivery Service or to access the Audiobook Collection for the Visually Impaired:

  • Fill out an application form online or pick one up in branch at the Help Desk.
  • Return your application form to the Library in person at the Help Desk or by email to outreach@coqlibrary.ca

Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA)

CELA provides accessible library services to people with print disabilities. Eligible members of all ages will find a broad choice of books, magazines and newspapers delivered by mail, as well as digital formats delivered by email.

The Library is a member of CELA. With a library card, Coquitlam residents who have a print disability can register for this service.
